Norm Ross Gully (GULLY), NSW Details

History

The name was proposed by G L and C L Ross in response to the Mangrove Mountain Bicentennial Naming Project. (Margaret Pontifex of Mangrove Mountain naming proposal form dated 5 June 1997)

Description

A gully beginning 4.1 km N by NE of Mount Baxter and 8.5 km NW of the Mangrove Mountain Post Office. It is 2.5 km in length and flows in a south-easterly direction into Mangrove Creek.

Origin

Norman Ross (29.10.1919 - 14.04.1995) was a coachbuilder wheelwright farrier horsebreaker and stockman who owned 2000 acres of land in this area for over 40 years. He was a genuine outback character who loved the area. The gully is nearly opposite his home. (Ross G L and C L naming proposal form dated 5 June 1997)
