Provest Creek (CREEK), NSW Details
History
Name proposed by Julianne Reid great grand-daughter of the original Provests as part of the Berowra Catchment Management Committee`s creek naming project conducted in 1995-96.
Description
A creek which rises on the northern side of Koala Place Hornsby. It is about 2 km in length and flows in a generally northern direction into Berowra Creek.
Origin
The name commemorates the contributions of the Provest family to the Hornsby community. Sometime around the turn of the century John and his wife Maria Provest settled in the area. They and their ten children were involved in activies such as founding the old Methodist Church the bowling club the hospital and building the Waitara P S.
