History
Years ago Blacksmiths was known as Pensioners Paradise. (Newcastle Morning Herald 1 September 1998) For a long time the locality was known as Blacksmiths Shop. (N M H 1 September 1976)
Description
A locality about 4 km E by N of Wangi Wangi Point and about 2 km NNW of Swansea Heads. Boundaries shown on map marked GNB 3506.
Origin
Blacksmiths originates from an old blacksmiths shop long demolished that was situated near the northern breakwater. The shop was erected for the purpose of sharpening tools used for the gravel quarries near Caves Beach where blocks of stone were cut in the construction of a breakwater. (N M H 1 September 1998)
