Gibbons Reserve (RESERVE), NSW Details
History
Neville Davis of the Parks Division of Parramatta Council nominated this name. Although he approached various librariesrail and historical groups he was unable to find any more details on Gibbons.
Description
A reserve located on the northern side of Burrabogee Road Pendle Hill. Part of it is shown on DP 162556 as Lot Y and the other part is shown on DP 577447 as Lot 2.
Origin
John Gibbons a masterful colonial construction supervisor was in charge of the building of the rail line between Granville and Blacktown. It was completed in 1860. (Sargeant D A The Toongabbie Story 1964 p. 45). The name was selected for the reserve because of its close proximity to the railway line.
