The name derived from an Aboriginal healer (Yal-lah-Mein-Di) who operated on one of Governor Phillips guides who was suffering pain.

A scattered settlement about 4km WSW of Richmond bounded on the N by Grose River the E by Nepean River and the SW by the City of the Blue Mountains. Boundaries within the Hawkesbury Council area shown on map GNB 3716.
