History
The locality was originally known as Tweed River Junction or The Junction until 1880 when the name of the post office was changed to Tumbulgum.Folklaw has it that this word meant meeting of the waters.
Description
A locality on the Pacific Highway bounded more or less by the Tweed Bartlets Road Main Trust Canal and Leddays Creek. It is about 10 km NE of Murwillumbah. Boundaries within the Tweed Council area shown on map GNB 3810. A bounded address locality. Also assigned as a village.
Meaning
