History
Major T.L. Mitchell in 1831 recorded the Aboriginal name of the mountain as Barragundy and the stream nearby as Carrabobbila. (Three Journeys ... M/L 981/2A Vol.1). Also refer to Sir WE Parry 1832.
Description
Peak to North East of town of Werris Creek about 2 km east of Glen Leigh homestead.
Meaning
The name is an abbreviation of Terrible Billy a corruption of Carrabobbila or Currabubula.
Origin
Gardner (M/L A 176 Vol. 1 Page 19) in 1854 reports that Carrobobbela has been corrupted to Terrible Billy. He names a mountain East of Currabubula Carrobobbela; whether this is a misplacing of the name by Gardner is unknown.
