Wyangala Dam (DAM), NSW Details
History
It was named after the Wyangala Station one of the properties flooded by its waters when construction was completed in 1935. (Maj.Rur.Dams. of NSW. Dep. L&WC).
Description
A dam on Lake Wyangala. It is about 2 km SE of Wyangala and 2 km N of Fullers Hill. It is situated on the Lachlan River 48 km upstream of Cowra near the junction of the Lachlan and the Abercrombie Rivers.
Origin
Aboriginal. Said to be a Wiradhuri word of unknown meaning. (Appleton; 1992).
