Wilsons River (RIVER), NSW Details
History
The river was formerly known as the North Arm of the Richmond River but was changed by the Geographical Names Board in the mid 1970s to Wilsons River and extended to include the maon part of Wilsons Creek.
Description
A perennial stream rising on the eastern slopes of Jerusalem Mountain which is about 8 km. W by S of the town of Main Arm. It flows generally SE WSW and South for about 130 km. into the Richmond River at the town of Coraki.
Origin
Wilsons Creek was named after William Wilson the first settler in Lismore in the period 1844-5. (Rich.Twd.Reg.Lib. & Rich.R.Hist.Soc. 1983).
