Origin
John Whitton: (died Feb. 1898) was the engineer-in-chief of the N.S.W. railways in the latter half of the 19th century. John Whitton built railways where none had ever existed his most remarkable feat being the railway from Sydney to Bathurst which included the construction of the famous Zig Zag Railway at Lithgow.
