Description
A town of on the Castlereagh River and in the Warrumbungle Mountains. It is 465 km from Sydney having good road rail and air facilities. It is near the Warrumbungle National Park. Boundaries within the Coonabarabran Council area shown on map GNB3754.
Meaning
Probably derived from Kamilaroi gunbaraaybaa meaning shit. A mean- ing recorded earlier peculiar odour was presumably a bowdlerisat- ion. (Appleton; 1992).
