It is about 3 km WSW of Belford Dome and about 5 km N of Thistle Hill. Situated within 5 km of the Hunter River on the Jump-up Creek. Boundaries within the Singleton Council area shown on map GNB3803.

Origin

Originally known as Jump Up Creek Surveyor Rogers laid out the deisgn for a new township in April 1854 to be known as Belford after the town in Bedfordshire England. (How & Why os Station Names2nd Edition 1982).
