Ben Boyd Reservoir (RESERVOIR), NSW Details
Description
A reservoir created on Boydtown Creek by the imponding of the waters behind Ben Boyd Dam. It is 7.5 km W by S of Honeysuckle Point and 3.5 km SW of Northcote Point. It is also about 2 km SW of Boydtown. It is a small reservoir designed to hold drinking water. There is no public access.
Origin
Benjamin Boyd (1803? - 1851?) was born in England. An entrepreneur by 1844 he had become one of the largest land holders and graziers in the colony. At Twofold Bay he established a coastal base for shipping livestock wool and tallow a township with salting and boiling down works and a whaling station. (Aust Dict of Biography)
