Zig Zag Creek (CREEK), NSW Details
History
The name was proposed by Lee Macquarie Smith a student at Normanhurst High School as part of the Berowra Catchment Management Committee`s creek naming competition.
Description
A creek of about 2 km in length which flows in a NW direction from Edmundson Close Thornleigh into Berowra Creek.
Origin
Named after the Thornleigh Zig Zag Railway which was situated in the same area as the creek. This railway was constructed by Amos and Company for the purpose of obtaining ballast for their new construction work. It provided access to a quarry which was 1.2 km from the site of Thornleigh Station and about 30 metres below it.
