A suburb about 3 km ESE of Fairfield West and about 2.5 km NW of Bass Hill. Boundaries in Fairfield City Gaz 17.5.91 amd 12.9.03 see map GNB3550. Boundaries in Bankstown City Gaz 20.5.94 amd 27.3.98 see map GNB3719.
Origin
The railway station in this suburb was named `Woodville Road` when it opened in 1922. It was named after a road which ran through the suburb but because of confusion with another Woodville the name was transposed to create `Villawood`. (Pollon F 1988 `The Book of Sydney Suburbs`)
