There are many theories concerning this name. One that it was derived from a Rozella parrot another that it was derived from Roselle a species of Rose mallow. Taking in the last theory it seems most probable because of the other names in the area have botanic origin. Maritime Services Board Port of Sydney Vol 9 No. 3
