Eric Mobbs Memorial Park (RESERVE), NSW Details
History
The proposal to name the park Eric Mobbs Memorial Park was adopted by Council on 13 June 1975. There is a substantial plaque and sign in the park possibly dating from 1982. (Parramatta Council 4 Sept 1998)
Description
A reserve on the southern side of Marsden Road at Carlingford. It occupies Lot 1 of DP 122181 and lots 3-6 of DP 8332.
Origin
Eric Mobbs MBE (23.11.1891 - 04.10.1974) was the first mayor of Parramatta after it had been newly constituted. Before that he was mayor of Dundas prior to the amalgamation. Apart from the MBE Mr Mobbs received the Silver Jubilee Medal and the Coronation medal for his community work. (Rowe J letters 30 June 1998 20 November 1998)
