Port Hacking (BAY), NSW Details
Description
A bay extending westerly from a line between the rock baths at Jibbon Street Cronulla ESE to Port Hacking Point including all bays except those in South West Arm between Grahams Point and Costens Point; Hacking River between Grays Point and Danger Point; North West Arm from Mansion Point NNE to the suburb of Gymea Bay near Coopernook Av.; and South of the footbridge across Cabbage Tree Basin in the suburb of Maianbar.
Origin
Bass and Flinders first entered this bay on 30 March 1796. Flinders said the natives called the areaDeeban (A voyage to Terra Australis - Matthew Flinders R.N.1814 Vol 1 page XCVII)
