History
Named after the Scottish River of the same name by Lieut. Robert Johnston who sailed in it during 1821 while searching for Capt.Stewart and his party. (500 names of Shoalhaven Shoalhaven Tourist Board).
Description
Rises 4 km south of the locality of Sassafras. It flows generally south draining the eastern slopes of Budawang Range for about 72 km by the villages of Brooman and Nelligen and town of Batemans Bay near its mouth into the Tasman Sea.
