Establishment of township in 1856.

Description

A town of 3000 persons situated on the Sydney-Wallangarra railway about 40 miles from Tamworth south along this railway. Boundaries within the Quirindi Council area shown on map GNB3799.

Meaning

Dead Tree on Mountain (or dead wood). (The Australian Museum list by Thorpe). Also: where fish breed (Mrs M.J.Caine.RAHS Vol.8.Suppl.1).

Origin

Aboriginal. For: dead tree on mountain top. (McCarthy. 1963). Also: Formerly Kamilaroi Aboriginal land and name is Kamilaroi in origin but of uncertain meaning. (Appleton. 1992).

The scroll-padding-inline-end property defines offsets for the end edge in the inline dimension of the optimal viewing region of the scrollport: the region used as the target region for placing things in view of the user.
