History
This name was nominated for the reserve by Mr WB Larkin - Hon Sec for the Ermington Chamber of Commerce. The nomination was in response to Councils invitation to the community to submit names.
Description
A reserve in Stamford Avenue Ermington. It occupies Lot 48 of DP31538.
Origin
James Tynan (1749 - 08.07.1830) was a marine who was first granted land by Gov Phillip in 1792. His land was later consolidated into Rev Samuel Marsdens land grant. He was one of the people who petitioned Governor Phillip for a Roman Catholic priest to be sent to the Colony. (Gillen M `The Founders of Australia` 1989)
