History
In 1881 the site was declared an official powder magazine managed by the Royal Marine Garrison. After Federation the Commonwealth took over the land and it was managed as an armaments depot.
Description
A reserve comprising Lot 1 (in two parts) DP 883215. Area 47.76 hectares. Situated within the Millennium Parklands adjacent to the Parramatta River. A pristine remnant of tall forest known to contain more than 157 plant species and at least 25 migratory wading bird species. Gazetted 15.9.2000.
