Mount Binalong (MOUNTAIN), NSW Details
Description
A timbered Mt about 3.2 km W of the Gunnedah-Boggabri railway. About 11 km W of S from Boggabri. Binalong trig station is situated on it. (A prominent timbered hill with a long but narrow summit some 800m long. The long axis of the Mt curiously points almost magnetic N and S. It is about 230m higher than the surrounding plains and is within trig Reserve + R 12 gazetted on 3rd August 1885. (This reserve is quite big being about 300m by 300m. As opposed to the usual trig. reserves which are quite small).
Meaning
Binalong means towards a high place (sky world?) ref. Endacott and Tyrell Towards the highplace (sky world) McCarthy.
