History
Previously the area was part of the Beaury state and national forests and Tooloom Scrub Flora Reserve.
Description
A national park of about 3980 ha proclaimed on December 1995 in Gov Gaz 158 folio 8820. The most northerly point in the park is about 7.5 km NE of Hewetsons Hill. The most southerly point is about 5 km SSW of the same hill. The park extends from its most westerly point on the easternside of the road near Tooloom Lookout to its most easterly point which is 3 km S of Woodenbong Peak. Meaning
From `dulum` meaning head louse. From the Drake area of Bunjalung. (Sharpe M). `Lice`. So named because of the myriads of water lice infecting the pools about the falls. (Keane E `Kyogle` p. 16).
Origin
Aboriginal. There are a number of features in the area named `tooloom`. From the Bunjalung language in the Drake area. (Sharpe M 1992 `Dictionary of West Bunjalung including Gidhabal and Tabulam Bunjalung` p. 179).
