Description
A town located about 12 km W of Yarra Yarra Junction and about 7 km SW by W of Cromer Hills. Boundaries within the Holbrook Council area shown on map GNB3774.
Meaning
Named after the first Naval V.C. winner of World War II.
Origin
The town was originally named Ten Mile after the creek that runs through the centre of town during the pre-war period. In this time the name changed again to Germanton (until beginning of war) after a local farmer. Since 1915 it has been named Holbrook.(See papers on map file).
