I'm uninstalling Factorio... after I share my 10k SPM megabase. : factorio

Long-time lurker, first-time poster… here to share my 10k SPM LTN megabase before I uninstall Factorio and retire*.

Game save: https://github.com/nullbyter-314/factorio[3] (7z files.. Need to piece them all together. Sorry, annoying, but Github has a 25mb upload limit)

Block blueprint book: https://github.com/nullbyter-314/factorio/blob/master/ENTIRE%20BLOCK%20BOOK?raw=true[4]

Background: Initially it started with a handful of players… they got everything bootstrapped. Then our server blew up, we never really got back together on it, and I forked the save to come up with this over ~4 months and something like 240 game hours.

Consumes a bit shy of 11k spm for a sustained 10 game-hours and counting. Should be able to run near-indefinitely at this point given ever-increasing mining productivity (“new” level 152: +1520%) and healthy item inventories. Over 25,000 rocket launches, with 12 rocket siloes now going nonstop.

Performance: Runs rather badly.. ~10 UPS on my i7-6700K. Breaks down to ~29ms on transport lines, ~48ms on entity updates, ~10ms on trains with the rest here and there among other update categories. At various points I made some concessions to save some UPS and a bit of my sanity: disabled (and deleted) biters/nests, pollution, and added some mods to turbocharge bots, inserters, and trains. I don’t think this materially affects production rate, at least not enough for me to care. Definitely would be interested (despite my pending retirement) in any tips to optimize UPS on an existing base like this.

Credits:

  • The initial gang: Guavifo, Phoenix_Firewind, tcon

  • City blocks: I wish I know who I lifted this from.. It certainly isn’t my design. (I’m still not sure I know whether to use rail signals vs. rail chain signals.) The contents of each block are a mix of my designs and blueprints I’ve pieced together here and there. They certainly are not fully optimized, but I was usually able to jam a good amount of production into each block.

  • Nuclear reactor banks: Also not sure where I found this one, sorry. They are pretty, though. By my count there are 21 banks of 28 reactors for a grand total of 588 and ~76 GW used.

  • Autotorio: Huge time-saver for placing miners. I never use the actual train stops or any other options -- just the miner placement (and then I typically delete the belts and splitters and reroute myself to maximize throughput).

  • Optera: This wouldn’t have been possible (or practical enough for me to want to undertake) without LTN. Game-changer.

  • Wube: What an incredible game.

Mods:

Stats & random facts:

  • Currently on 0.17.52. Was too scared of mod incompatibility to stay on the very latest update each time.

  • Iron plates: 2.2G total, currently around 1.0M/minute

  • Copper plates: 1.7G total, currently around 830K/minute

  • Rockets: 25,500+ launches and counting. 12 siloes now going nonstop.

  • Time spent: Looks like around 240 hours (game-time).. Not sure how to get a proper number. Wall-time: too gd much.

  • Trains: 387 1-4 LTN trains? Probably 75/25 split between cargo and fluid.

  • Bots: 63k construction, 8k logistic.

  • This map had a fair bit of water. Ended up using something like 3.6 million landfill.

  • Poor trees. 868k sitting in logistic storage.

* At least until 1.0 comes out or something. I have a lot of other games I need to play.

"Olivia, my eldest daughter, caught measles when she was seven years old. As the illness took its usual course I can remember reading to her often in bed and not feeling particularly alarmed about it. Then one morning, when she was well on the road to recovery, I was sitting on her bed showing her how to fashion little animals out of coloured pipe-cleaners, and when it came to her turn to make one herself, I noticed that her fingers and her mind were not working together and she couldn’t do anything. 'Are you feeling all right?' I asked her. 'I feel all sleepy,' she said. In an hour, she was unconscious. In twelve hours she was dead. The measles had turned into a terrible thing called measles encephalitis and there was nothing the doctors could do to save her. That was...in 1962, but even now, if a child with measles happens to develop the same deadly reaction from measles as Olivia did, there would still be nothing the doctors could do to help her. On the other hand, there is today something that parents can do to make sure that this sort of tragedy does not happen to a child of theirs. They can insist that their child is immunised against measles. ...I dedicated two of my books to Olivia, the first was ‘James and the Giant Peach’. That was when she was still alive. The second was ‘The BFG’, dedicated to her memory after she had died from measles. You will see her name at the beginning of each of these books. And I know how happy she would be if only she could know that her death had helped to save a good deal of illness and death among other children."

I just checked google books for BFG, and the dedication is there.
