History
On an early plan it appears as Bika. It appeared as Biggah in 1839 when the first licence was taken out of the station. By 1848 the licence was held by Dr George Finlay in the form of Bega.

A town about 7.5 km SW of the village of Angledale.
Meaning
Aboriginal word meaning big camping ground (Anthropological Society of Australasia papers 1899) Also: big camping plce. (McCarthy; 1963).
