George W I Brown Reserve (RESERVE), NSW Details
History
In 1996 Council proposed George W I Brown Reserve. This was altered by the Board to George Brown Reserve and assigned. Complainants asked that the original form be assigned to avoid confusion.
Description
A reserve with access to Cini Place at Quakers Hill. It occupies Lot 13 of DP 258719. Reserve 491.
Origin
George Whiteman Islab Brown and family settled in Quakers Hill in 1910 - 1912. They built their home Torella in Eastern Road and established orchards and vineyards. The farm became known as Browns Vineyard and produced wine. Its products won many prizes at both local and Sydney shows. Brown died on 16 March 1956 aged 75.
