Situated on the left bank of Myall River at the confluence of Crawford and Myall Rivers. On the Pacific Hwy in Bulahdelah address locality about 39 km S of Nabiac at the foot of the Alum Mountain.

Said to be Kattang for meeting of waters. (Not verified). (Appleton; 1992). Also: meeting of waters big (creek rocks) or good camping place (McCarthy; 1963).
