A town located about 7km SE of Belford and about 7 km NW of Red Hill. Boundaries in Singleton Council area Gaz 10 May 1996 map GNB3803.

Origin

Originally Awabakal Aboriginal land. (Appleton; 1992). Name apparently came into usage about the time the railway went through - 1862. School and post office adopted the name at about the same time.
