History
Until 1895 the district had been known as Terry Brook after Samuel Terry who was granted 950 acres in the area in 1818. When this land was divided up in 1895 the present name was introduced.

Origin
Named after the Welsh town on Llandilo Fawr and the origin of the name was credited to Saint Teilo who lived in the 6th century. The areas present name was apparently adopted in 1895. (Place names & origins in Penrith Penrith City Council 1982).
