Trefoil Creek (GULLY), NSW Details

Description

A watercourse which is about 0.7 km in length and flows from an area north-east of the junction of Frenchs Forest Road and Wakehurst Parkway at Frenchs Forest. It flows in a northerly direction to its point of confluence with Middle Creek.

Meaning

`Trefoil is a Middle English adaptation of the Latin `trifolium` or Anglo-French `trifoil`. `Tri`- three and `folium` leaf. (`Shorter Oxford English Dictionary`). The trefoil is the Girl Guides emblem.

Origin

In a letter dated 2 March 1998 Mrs Dorothy A Price expressed her concern about the future care for this watercourse. She proposed that it be named after the Trefoil Guild of Australia (former Girl Guides Brownies or leaders) who spent the last two Clean Up Australia mornings removing rubbish from the watercourse.
