Area named by Oliver Jones son-in-law of William Yabsley first sett- ler of Coraki because of bora ring there. (Reference as above).

A village about 8.5 km E by N of Newmans Flat.
Meaning
From Gidhabal buhl for bora ring circle; Bora Ridge area: the place to make men secretly. (M.Sharpe).
Origin
Bora implies a sacred initiation ground of the Aborigines. The ring almost flattened is half in the Public School and non-Aborigines ignorant of significance built a toilet on the ring itself. (Richmond Tweed Regional Library and Richmond River Historical Society. 1983).
