History

This Trigonometrical Station was surveyed and erected in 1868 as part of the definition of the 141st meridian for the NSW/SA border.

Description

A major Trigonometrical Station consisting of a brick obelisk 4.1 meters high and 1.7 meters square at its base. It is situated on the New South Wales/South Australian border about 2 km south of Smalley Trig Station. On 8th December 1868 Charles Todd Observer and Superintendant of telegraphs SA and George Smalley Government Astronomer for NSW met and formally accepted the boundary as now marked by this obelisk.
