A point on Parramatta River about 2 km S of Ryde.

Origin

KISSING POINT - came into use about 1799 various explanations (1) It marked the end of river navigation - where Keels kissed the shelving river bed. (ii) Governor attended a picnic fell asleep and was kissd awake P. 17. (Infro. from A Place of Pioneers) RAHS Vol 1 Ps 39120.
