Description
A coastal suburb situated about 3 km E by S of Flat Rock Junction and about 2.5 km SW of Stanwell Park.
Origin
Three surveyors of a wreck in 1797 set out to walk to Sydney more than 300 miles away. At this point they discovered coal and lit a fire to warm themselves. After their rescue they reported the precence of coal and Governor Hunter sent Goerge Bass to investigate. Bass found several seams that extended for some distance. (Reed 1969).
