October 1887 a party using telegraph morse code stationed at this site alerted a similiar party at Sth Head Sydney at the instant of sunrise The time of sunrise in Sydney was found to be 9min 40 1/4 sec later.

Park in the town of Tweed Heads about 1 1/4 km SW of the Post Office.

Name refers to the Toonganabah Observatory Source: 4th Edition Parish Map 1894. Source: Keats W McGregor & Cooloon p63. (This is meant to be in the History field but out of space.)
