It was an English naval vistory over the Dutch fleet in 1797. The battle was fought off the Dutch coast near the village of Camperdown. (Reed 1969).

Origin
After Governor Blighs large estate. Bligh called his estate Camperdown in memory of the battle of Camperdown a naval victory in which he had taken part in the Napoleonic wars.
