A suburb about 3 km E by N of North Sydney and about 4 km S by W of Seaforth. The suburb of Mosman covers the entire Mosman Local Government Area. Boundaries within the Mosman Council area shown on map GNB3533.

Origin

Derives its name from Archibald Mossman (1799-1863) who set up a whaling station at Mossmans Bay in 1830. (Australian Place Names Kennedy 1992).
