History
A Plaque attached to a stone pillar in the corner of the park shows the background to the parks name and is undersigned R.B. Miles Pres. Byron Shire Council 18th March 1975.

A reserve bounded by Park Street Byron Street and River Road at New Brighton comprising of Portion 335 Parish of Billinudgel and shown as Vacant Crown Land.
