Source for Previous Names historian/author Jeff Smith conversation 25 Feb 2002. Duramana abandoned due to confusion with Duramana in Evans Shire not contiguous. Back Creek Platform became Newbridge.

A village about 7 km SW by W of Wimbledon and about 12 km NE by E of Barry.
Origin
Name became Newbridge when bridge built 1878.
