History

In the late 1930s members of the above Board were honoured by having lookouts named after them. The others were H Ellsmore P McNab and J Buchanan. All but Balks Lookout appear on current maps.

Description

A point situated on the rim of the plateau on the western side of Stonequarry Creek within Morton National Park. It is located about 150 metres to the north of Christmas Creek.

Origin

Commemorates William Evan Balk (1886 - 1961) a member of the Board of Trustees in Bundanoon in the 1920s and 1930s. This Board was responsible for the development of many community and tourist facilities in the area. A lot of their work was done during the Depression years and required not only time but also physical labour.
