An island in Sydney Harbour about 1 km SW of Steel Point. This island is dual named.

Origin

It is said that there were some sharks present to inspire the name. SHARK ISLAND - So named due to predominance of sharks in the area at that time. P. 335. (Infr. from RAHS Journal Vol 31 pt 5).
