History
Named because of the abundant mass of Christmas Bells which flourish on the plain each year.
Description
A narrow coastal plain extending from just north of Cathie Creek in the south for 7.2km in a northwesterly direction. It is bounded by the Pacific Ocean on the east and by Cathie Creek and The Lake Swamp on the west. (Area is traversed by a scenic road which will eventually become a major bypass for tourists.)
Origin
Name adopted on recommendation of the Council of the Municipality of Port Macquarie in 1967.
