Australian Seabird Rescue includes 100 volunteers 20 of whom are the core group of workers. There are two other branches of ASR based on the Central Coast and the South Coast of NSW.

A reserve approx. 0.7 ha in area comprising Lots 1 2 and 3 DP1061771 located between Fawcett Street and Richmond River in the suburb of Ballina.
Origin
Named after Lance Ferris (dob 1947 - dod 14.10.07) who was known to many as The Pelican Man. Lance Ferris was President and founder of the Ballina based volunteer organisation Australian Seabird Rescue.
