Ellem Gully (GULLY), NSW Details
History
Kumbu Gully was originally selected for this gully but there were objections and Ellem Gully was submitted by various people as a more appropriate name.
Description
A gully which starts at a point 6.2 km NW of Mangrove Mountain Post Office and 6.1 km NE of Mount McLeod. It is 2.2 km in length and flows in a southerly direction into Warre Warren Creek.
Origin
Richard Ellem (......... - ......1857) was convict number 3206 who arrived in Australia with the Third Fleet. he settled on 30 acres near Bedlam Creek and later built a house in what became known as Ellems Gully. ( (Ellem L Ellem Tree and Branches and letter to Board on file GNB4419 from K Paull)
