History
Initiated members of the local Aboriginal clan had to perform certain rites in this locality. (Richmond Tweed Regional Library & Richmond River Historical Society. 1983).
Description
A locality about 1 km SSE of Parrots Nest Trig. Station and about 7.5 km ESE of Spring Grove.
Origin
Aboriginal. Was Ghoorangbil or Gurangbil for many hoop pines but this extends over to Wyrallah and Pelican Creek. Is song connected with area containing word for parrot gehr. The birds came from Mount Brown settled in area and connected with origin of local Aboriginal family. (Richmond Tweed Reg. Lib. & Rich. River Historical Soc. 1983).
