William Osborne Spurling Thompson was the oldest son of Nathan Chase Thompson (one of the first permanent residents of the Island who arrived in 1856) He died on 7th October 1953 at the age of 85 years and was the father of 11 children. During his lifetime Mr Thompson was the outstanding figure on the Island. For many years he served on
