History
Name submitted by the Olympic Co-ordination Authority as part of the preparation of the grounds for the staging of the Olympic Games in 2000.
Description
A reserve at Homebush Bay bounded on the north by Dawn Fraser Avenue on the east and the south by the Vernon [Heritage] Buildings and on the west by Showground Road.
Origin
The gardens are named after J M Maidenthe Director of the Sydney Botanic Gardens (now the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney) from 1896 to 1924.
