History
Oakey. A creek of N.S.W. in the district of Liverpool Plains. On this stream is the station of J. Handford. (Wells Gaz. 1848. P 325. This may not be the correct Oakey Creek.
Description
A non perennial watercourse about 9 km long. It rises about 1 km East of The Bishops Gap and about 6 km SE by S of Waterloo Pinnacle It flows generally NW by W into Maules Creek.
Origin
Obviously named after the casuarina tree either the Belah (casuarina cristata) or the Bull Oak (casuarina luchmannii) bcth known as Oaks .
